My family is from the Antler/Westhope area. I visited summers with my grandma, Vivian Cossette, in the 1960's and have vivid memories of it still. Grandma was the cook at the old Gateway Hotel. My cousin Cheryl worked at the drugstore. I played Babe Ruth and Legion baseball and remember tons of nice people in this small town. I met my first girlfriend there My dad, Russ, grew up on the farm out by Antler before my grandparents moved to town. I was overjoyed to find your website. Thanks |

| Having grown up in Westhope back in the late 1940s until 1959 (WHS class of 1961 had we not moved to Minot), I was really pleased to find this website. Good job. The picture of the south side of the school especially brought back a lot of memories. I think I was still in 1st grade when we moved into that bldg after the prev school burned. We attended classes downtown somewhere while it was being built. Some of my classmates were John Martinson, Jim Munn, Beth Hulse, Helen Madsen & Dorothy Rauk.. |

| I worked in the Westhope and Mohall area for a couple of summers in the mid 90's and remember those timese fondly and often. Met a lot of great poeple in Westhope, a few too in Mohall, especially Caroline at the poolhall. I miss the primerib nights at the hotel there but sounds like you have got it opened up again and that is great to see. I remember well all the Ballantynes, Lois, Toni, all most of the friendly hotel staff. I hope I get a chance someday soon to come back for a good visit. Bye! |

Hello my name is Shane West Hope. My father served in the Air Force in Minot, ND. While serving there he went to West Hope several times. So with our last name being Hope it was fitting the named me after your town. I truley love my name. So much so that I named my son Carter West Hope. My dad returned to visit and he took my Truck because it was newer. I have a picture of my truck parked in front of your town sign. Thanks for cool name Shane W. Hope |

My mother was born at Westhope in 1901, on a homestaed 3 miles west. Her parents were Philippe and Louise Lacroix. She often spoke fondly of her early years, and her mothers regret leaving in 1910. I'd like to know where I can obtain Lodoens' books, Bottineau's centennial book, or other local history. Any direction would be appreciated. Reading "The Story of Westhope" was like hearing my mother talking. Thankyou. |
