Hello Jean. I apologize for your getting that information. Copyscape discovered an entire story that had been plaigerized. I usually do nothing if it's a small amount of text or photos, but this was the entire page, so I thought I left a message for them, somehow, it ended up on your wall! At any rate, I think it is all settled now. The real mccoy is at http://jayssouth.com/louisiana/bonnie

Wilson, who on face book was using your story contents? I don't remember seeing anything on there. Hope you have been well. I hadn't heard from you for awhile. Take care.

I thought y'all would be interested in the book There Are No Words. It features both Bartlett and Nashville Tennessee. The storyline follows the story of the train wreck at Dutchman's curve. The book has won multiple domestic and international awards. Here is a link to a short video about the book: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb8dX11uK1c All my best, Mary Calhoun Brown Author |

Ed, thank you for visiting. Now, of couse we all know why Mrs. Blackbun wasn't overly sociable with the neighbors, including your mom. Your mom and the other neighbors must have been shocked at the history that occurred at that rental house on Lake Weir. Thanks again for the visit.

Melvin, thanks for the visit. It sounds as if your family was especially hard hit by the New London School Disaster. That day made reluctant heroes of many involved, including those oilfield hands, the medical personnel and volunteers who came from all levels of society and worked together under very trying conditions. Thanks again for the visit.

I had 12 cousins killed in the explosion. One of them, Lena Hunt, a teacher, was killed along with 2 of her 3 children.

If you ever pass through New London, be sure to visit the museum. Also visit the Pleasant Hill Cemetery where about 200 of the children are buried. I was born a month after the explosion and graduated from London in 1955.

Jacob, thanks for visiting. You're almost right. Sometime after the crew of the Deering disappeared, a person using the name Charles McClellan applied for a job aboard a ship on the Pacific Coast. He never returned to take the job or to be declined for it. He was never heard from again. Charles B. McClellan was the name of the first mate aboard the Deering. Thanks, again.

Mystery of the Carroll Deering. Wasn't one of the crewmembers found years after the Deering was abandoned? This is a great story and I like the way you showed it in a timeline. Thanks.

Jeff, Great hearing from you. The Baptists and I reached an agreement many years ago, I stay outa their bars and they won't preach to me! I'm currently exploring areas east of the West Loop. I haven't done any tech-writing in about a year, now. Thanks for the compliment on the site; it now has about 130 pages. Send me an e-mail at wajay_47@yahoo.com and keep me informed on activities in Texas while I'm away. Thanks again.

Hey Wilson, purty cool little website you have here. Been kicked out of any Baptist churches lately? Done any tech writing lately? It's really bad out there right now.

Tester, thanks for the visit. The music on that page was one of those "brilliant" ideas that didn't quite plan out when applied. My apologizes to everyone who tried to watch the video. The music has now been removed so you can actually hear the video. Thanks for pointing this out to us. Please visit more often; we welcome comments that will improve the site. Thanks again.
